This project is being implemented in Kasungu District in four extension planning areas (EPAs) of Chamama, Santhe, Chulu, and Mtunthama by a consortium of Oxfam (Lead and Grant holder), Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM), and Circle for Integrated Community Development (CICOD).  

The overall objective of the project is to support access to profitable and inclusive agriculture markets for economic empowerment and livelihood resilience of smallholder farmers, especially women and youth in Kasungu district. 

The project has three specific objectives: 

  1. To enhance the capacity of 3 000 smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth to produce marketable and profitable agriculture commodities;
  2.  To enhance the capacity of 3 000 smallholder farmers, especially women and youth to access inclusive, profitable, and predictable agriculture markets; and
  3.  To advocate for improvement in policies related to smallholder farmers’ access to agriculture markets. 

The project will generate three key results: (i) Enhanced capacity of smallholder farmers particularly women and youth in production of marketable and profitable agriculture commodities; ii) Improved access to inclusive, profitable, and predictable agriculture markets by smallholder farmers, especially women and youth; and (iii) Improved policy environment related to smallholder farmer’s access to agriculture market
